A native of Memphis, she earned her B.A. with Distinction, Phi Beta Kappa, from Rhodes College, and her M.A. from the University of Memphis.

Anna is the author of SHLEMIEL CROOKS (Junebug/NewSouth), a Sydney Taylor Honor Book winner, Koret International Jewish Book Award finalist, and PJ Library Book.

Anna enjoys discovering new authors and illustrators. She is looking for "voice," the sound and rhythm of an author that could be no one else's, and has a special interest in children's picture books (author-illustrators only), adult nonfiction, Judaica, animal stories, and ghost stories.
